Meet Our Principal

Headshot of Principal Marquetta Masters

Marquetta Masters is an educator, wife, and mother of three beautiful sons. She received her undergraduate degree from Langston University where she was a member of the Alpha Chi Honor Society and graduated Magna Cum Laude. She received her Master’s in Education Leadership from Texas Woman’s University and has served in education for over twenty-three years.

Mrs. Masters began her career in the Dallas Independent School District as a middle school Reading/Language Arts teacher at Atwell Law Academy in 1999. While at Atwell, she became the department chair. She left the classroom to become an Instructional Coach at Adelle Turner Elementary School. Mrs. Masters was an Instructional Coach of Reading, Math, and Science at Adelle Turner for four years.

She was promoted to Assistant Principal at Richard Lagow and served at the campus for several years before being promoted to a principal position. In 2013, she began serving as the principal of Frederick Douglass Elementary School. Under her leadership, the school's math and science scores improved and her campus became the first elementary campus in the Dallas Independent School District to implement a computer science curriculum.

Mrs. Masters’ STEM implementation led to her school becoming the first Public School Choice Elementary STEM Academy in the Southern sector of Dallas ISD. In addition to her passionate work in STEM, Mrs. Masters completed training at the Deloitte's Courageous Principals Program and Harvard's Graduate School of Education Program, the National Institute for Urban School Leaders. She has been featured on several local news stations to speak about the importance of 21st-century learning, and she has a featured article and video showcased by the Philanthropist division of Microsoft during computer science week.

Mrs. Masters’ passion for student learning shines through her work.  She is a dedicated educator who believes that all children can succeed at great lengths if given the tools to do so.
